And, then there was a porch

Early this week the porch was added! We have always dreamed of having a front porch and can't wait to hang out on it with friends and family. It will have a lot of finish work added, but this view shows the basic structure.

Elliott and Ollie checking out the view from the master bedroom. We will look across at a field that will always be preserved as green space.

A view of upstairs bedroom walls in place.

The Pot of Gold

We saw our second rainbow over the new house after a thunderstorm ripped through while we were having dinner with the new neighbors.  If you look closely there is a faint double rainbow just above the tall trees in the distance.  It was quite spectacular. We were drawn to this lot because of the open fields and large skies; we're looking forward seeing many more sights like this.

Last week the roof was added and detail started to appear along the rooflines. Inside the upstairs interior wall frames went up. We had fun wandering around the bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms.

We just finished our first full week in our rental house, which is located in one of our favorite Freeport neighborhoods (Flying Pt.). It's a rambling farmhouse, renovated by the architect who designed the Portland Public Market. Every window looks out on beautiful lawns, a pond, or fields. It's a peaceful, relaxing place to be and we are especially thrilled that we don't have to work on anything around the house. It's a great break from everything we did to prepare our old house for sale, packing up to move, etc.
