Two and half weeks to go!

The crew is focused on finish work now that we are two and a half weeks away from our move-in day (Dec. 10!). It's very exciting to watch everything come together!

Our farmers sink arrived this week. We love it!
The crown moulding is going in.

The preliminary structure for the island was built. It will soon be a large cherry farmer's table.
Our mantle was installed. It's a reclaimed board from an old barn. Barn boards were also installed above the mantel; they will soon be painted white.

The kids' bath is now tiled.
Master shower tile

Banisters are starting to be installed and the treads went down on the stairs.
The outlines for wainscoting have begun. Soon much of the downstairs will have wainscoting.
The ceiling of the porch was installed.

Cedar shakes are starting to go up on the garage and shed.

The septic was installed and they've begun bringing a lot of fill into the lot to level it off with the road and bury the septic. More fill is on its way!

More Progress in Kitchen and Bathrooms

The "mail center" was added to the mudroom.  The door to the right goes to the garage.
The space under the mail slots will be perfect for charging our devices.

Kitchen Pantry -- shelves are in.  It's good and big, we'll have to figure out how to use this space best.

We're excited for the new kitchen.  Lots of good storage!

The built-ins in the living room are in.

Laundry room floor and shelf

Tiles and floor is in in the Kids bathroom.  We love the cork floor and glass stripe in the tub.

Starting the tile work in the master bath

The centuries old barn door arrives!  This will be on a track and will be the door for the study.
A beam from the barn and finished the same way will be the mantle over the fireplace.

Lots of character in the barn door

Kitchen!

November 12, 2014
The kitchen cabinets have arrived! They were custom made in Yarmouth.  This week they will be measured for the granite countertops, which will arrive next week. Once the floors are sealed, they will install the island.

November 12, 2014
Our bathrooms and laundry room have cork floors, which you can see being installed here. This is a view into the laundry room from the upstairs hallway.

Flooring, siding, trim, and a digger!

November 8, 2014
The siding is starting to migrate around the house. Seeing the siding up makes our house feel more like the home that it will soon be.

November 8, 2014
The back of the house. Soon there will be a deck off of the sliding doors (dining room), where we know we will enjoy many happy meals.

November 7, 2014
We love the flooring! A view from the kitchen (to be installed this week!) to the dining room. The chair rail is starting to go up, soon wainscoting will be installed under the chair rail.

November 7, 2014
A view from the dining room to the living room. Soon wainscoting will be added to this room as well and there will be built-in bookcases on either side of the fireplace.

A view to our dining room from the living room.

November 7, 2014
This week the benches were built in to both of our mudrooms. They have great lift-up lids and we can imagine storing all of our mittens and hats in them.

November 7, 2014
A built in bookcase which we added to a nook on the upstairs landing. Our future "children's library."

November 7, 2014
Built-ins are being built all over the house this week -- this is the beginning of the build-out in our master bedroom closet.

November 8, 2014
A digger showed up -- always an exciting sight! We think this means  that the septic will be installed soon and that the lawn grading will be finished.

November 8, 2014
Our study, which has lots of great light (you can see the light from the bank of windows that aren't visible).

Snow and siding!

November 2, 2014
Today we were thrilled to see our first snow of the season. The kids spent hours out playing in the couple of inches of snow that fell. We also celebrated the beginning of siding being installed on our house. We are using Hardie Board siding, which is a concrete board siding. It is long-lasting (50 year warrantee!) and eco-friendly.

Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2014
Tonight we visited the house with friends just before trick-or-treating and discovered that the flooring installation has started. We chose birch floors because we love the grain and coloration. This is the upstairs bonus room before the wood has been treated with poly. A couple of other exciting additions this week include trim and doors. By the end of next week all trim, flooring, and exterior siding should be complete.
